On a sunny Saturday, June 1st,2024, the streets of Gowanus Brooklyn were filled with the vibrant colors and sounds of the Gowanus Art Parade. The theme, “Creatures of the Canal – Possibly Real or Imaginary,” brought out paraders dressed in fantastical costumes, each one expressing their own imaginative creation.
The parade officially kicked off at 3pm on Union and Nevins, with participants eagerly awaiting their turn to showcase their unique designs. The procession wound its way through the neighborhood, with music signaling the celebration.
Finally, as the parade reached its end point at the community street festival outside the Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse on 2nd Street, the excitement and energy was palpable. People of all ages and backgrounds came together to celebrate art, creativity, and the unique culture of Gowanus. It was a truly magical event.
