 The First Omen-2024

The First Omen is a prequel to the iconic horror franchise The Omen. This film seeks to explore the origins of the antichrist, delving into the events leading up to the birth of Damien, the central figure of the original series.

The film does a good job of building a creepy, foreboding atmosphere, which is crucial for a horror movie. The setting and cinematography effectively convey a sense of dread, much like the original The Omen.

The cast delivers strong performances, with a focus on conveying the psychological horror of the situation rather than relying solely on jump scares. The lead actors will keep the audience engaged with their portrayals of characters slowly unraveling as they confront evil.

If you’re a fan of the original like myself, you will appreciate the callbacks and connections to The Omen, as the film tries to stay true to the lore while expanding on it. Now the movie  starts off a bit slow. I felt at times that the story was dragging for a while but I think it was done on purpose to build up the characters  and the plot-so please be patient. Also please keep in mind the movie is predictable, I mean it’s the birth of Damien-we know what happened to him, but there were so many questions about where he came from and this movie delivers.

The First Omen is a decent entry in the horror genre, particularly for fans of the original series. It offers a dark, atmospheric experience with strong performances and a really good prequel. The First Omen is currently available on  Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and VOD platforms. Pictures courtesy of 20th Century Studios.
