Imaginary (2024), is a supernatural horror movie from Blumhouse Productions and directed by Jeff Wadlow. The story revolves around Jess (DeWanda Wise), her two step-daughters, and an imaginary friend named Chauncey (a combination of Ted, Chucky and Teddy Ruxbin) , who quickly shifts from innocent to malevolent. The movie explores childhood trauma, imagination, and family. I liked the creepy factor for the use of hidden worlds and eerie toys.
The performances by Wise and Pyper Braun as Alice, was great. The cinematography was very creative in both worlds. The plot’s twists were good and somewhat predictable, and the final moments will get your attention with a few well-executed scares. This movie will give you some Poltergeist vibes and Chauncey is one creepy bear
Imaginary will appeal to fans of Blumhouse-style horror with its jump scares and twists, a good movie to watch and let your imagination take over. Imaginary is currently available on Starz, Amazon Prime and VOD. www.imaginary.movie
