Salem’s Lot 2024 is based on Stephen King’s vampire novel, starring Lewis Pullman as Ben Mears, an author returning to his hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot, only to find it under threat from a vampire.
The movie has the 70’s setting to reflect when the book was published and I must say the retro vibe worked for this movie. Small town, simple life without the modern technology we have today.
For those that have read the book or have watched the original 1979 mini series Salem’s Lot, the movie does have the traditional horror vibe but like most Stephen King books that turn into movies it’s never like the book-those little details in the book explains a lot.
The acting overall was great, especially Jordan Preston Carter who plays Mark. The night time scenes gave off those creepy vibes especially when the Glick boys were walking home. The make up and special effects were great and overall a great Saturday night scary movie-watch it in the dark, you’ll thank me for it. Salem’s Lot was original scheduled for theater release but is exclusively on Max (aka HBO Max).
