The New York Marine Rescue Center (NYMRC), located in Riverhead, New York, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1996 as the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation, rebranded in 2019. It is New York State’s only authorized marine mammal and sea turtle rehabilitation center, operating under permits from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NYMRC’s mission is to preserve and protect the marine environment through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and research, focusing on seals, sea turtles, dolphins, porpoises, and small toothed whales.

NYMRC will be releasing rehabilated sea turtles back into the sea on August 6, 2026 (Wednesday)

NYMRC will also be hosting the 28th ANNUAL 5K Run for the Ridley on October 18, 2025 starting at 8AM – Rain or Shine. Proceeds will help the NYMRC continue their mission of rescuing and rehabilitating marine animals in need. (For information see link below).
