First of all, what is an NBA G League? Well…

The NBA G League serves as the NBA’s official minor league system where talent develops across all basketball roles. Originally the NBDL (2001), then D-League (2005), it became the G League in 2017 through Gatorade sponsorship—the first major U.S. sports league to adopt a corporate name. Now in its 25th season (2025-26), it comprises 31 teams: 30 NBA-affiliated and one independent (Mexico City). The league functions as the NBA’s testing ground while providing affordable basketball entertainment and career pathways—more than half of current NBA players have G League experience.

AND New York has TWO Teams:

There are two NBA G League teams based in New York (specifically New York state), both serving as affiliates for New York-area NBA franchises:

• Westchester Knicks
  This is the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks.
  • Location: White Plains, New York (in Westchester County, just north of New York City).
  • Home arena: Westchester County Center.
  • They’ve been the Knicks’ direct affiliate since 2014, fully owned and operated by the Knicks organization.

• Long Island Nets
  This is the official NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets.
  • Location: Uniondale, New York (on Long Island, part of the New York metropolitan area).

These are the only two G League teams located in New York state as of 2026. The league has a total of 31 teams, with most NBA franchises having a direct affiliate like these.
