  Tarot- Horror/Supernatural Thriller

Tarot, a 2024 film based on the book Horrorscope, blends horror and supernatural thriller elements into a story that taps into the eerie and mystical. The movie follows a group of friends who, after a night of drinking, decided to play with a Tarot deck, and then find themselves haunted by mysterious and terrifying events. As they struggle to make sense of the increasingly bizarre occurrences, they realize that the Tarot cards are  predicting and dictating their fates.

The director’s use of lighting and scenery  helped effectively build tension and dread throughout the movie for the characters.  The movie did have some cool gory scenes and to be honest the plot was predictable- bad stuff happens when you go through a stranger’s house.

This movie follows the typical horror recipe that people are familiar with and not bringing much new to the table. The characters, are not particularly memorable or deeply developed, which may lessen the impact of the film’s more intense moments.

Tarot is a decent movie for fans of supernatural horror, especially those intrigued by the concept of Tarot cards and their symbolism. The movie is  currently streaming on Netflix and the book Horrorscope by James D. Macdonald (aka Nicholas Adams) is available on Amazon. Pic via Sony/Screen Gems.
